About the Death Penalty

Nowadays the death penalty is a very big issue. Not only does it often torment the minds or thougths of many citizens, but it also has significant effects on the way in which our societies develop and on the manner in which we view the people within them.
Personally, before I watched the movie “the life of David Gale” I was absolutely for the death penalty, because we are immersed in a world in which many people murder, kidnap, rape, and commit many others crimes without being punished, and an efficient strategy to avoid crime keeps going up is using the death penalty, because it is normal that most people have a natural fear of death and if every person who committed a crime died, the homicide rate would be very low because no ones likes to die, therefore we could save the lives of thousands of victims.
Nevertheless, after I watched that great movie , I changed a little bit my point of view, because I noticed the death penalty most of the time is far more likely where a white person is murdered than where a black person is murdered; in others words, the death penalty is racially divided, because it appears to count white lives as more valuable than black ones.
Besides, we are not “Gods” to decide when the life of a person ends.
In conclusion, the death penalty is clearly a topic or issue about what we should reflect upon very deeply before we come to any firm conclusions.
